Disabled access

We want Flashers’ Club to be as accessible as possible to people with disabilities. If you have any suggestions about how we can better achieve this, we’d love to hear them. You can e-mail via the contact form , get in touch on Facebook or Twitter, or come and speak to us on the night. Below are a few pieces of information that we hope may be helpful.

Access

There are steps up to the entrance of Smokey Joe’s, but a wheelchair ramp is available. It is quite steep, so wheelchair users may need assistance. If this is a concern then let us know in advance and we’ll make sure the ramp and a helper are available when you arrive.

Inside, the venue is level. Sadly there is no disabled toilet, though the main toilets are on the ground floor and step-free.

Guide dogs are welcome.

Participation

There is no raised stage. Reading takes place at the front of the room using a microphone on a stand, which is height-adjustable. There is also a height-adjustable lectern with spotlight.

We can reserve a suitable table for you if you let us know your needs/preferences in advance. You can e-mail us via the contact form, or get in touch via Twitter or Facebook.

If you’d like assistance to and from the microphone, we’re very happy to help. Just let us know on the night.

We provide hard copies of the stories for our deaf and hard-of-hearing audience, so if you would like one just drop us a message in advance via the contact methods listed above. We will do our best to get it for you. If we haven’t been able to provide you with hard copy on the night, we can collect them after the event and post them on to you.

We look forward to seeing you at the next event!
